The Orchestra (2023)

Live Dance & Visual Art Performance

Commissioned by the Lowry Centre for Advanced Training Scheme

In collaboration with the Lowry CAT Students, 'The Orchestra' is a brand new work, curating specially for the students and their End of Year Show on the Lowry Quays stage. 

This work explores how music structures impact the body and transcend the imagination to new places. An explosion of physicality and rhythm, a celebration of fantasy and escapism, a collision of bass & pulse, ‘The Orchestra’ invites audiences into a world of vibrancy and play.

We Rave (2022)

45 Minute Durational Outdoor Performance

Created in collaboration with Ludus Youth Dance

Performed as part of Light Up Lancaster 2022 & U.Dance North West 2023

 

We Rave is designed to encapsulate the coming-of-age rituals missed during the covid-19 pandemic and boost wellbeing amongst the performers and the audience. WeRave showcases digital collaboration with dance, enabling the young people to own and lead the space with their movement and creative style. Bringing spectacle, fun and joy to a multitude of audiences, We Rave brings party on an epic scale!

Verve Research Commission (2022)

Undertaken with Verve (NSCD Postgraduate Company).

Micro Commission that focused on the Company's improvisational model, working closely with the dancers to explore club culture, character development and structural play. Final sharing hosted at NSCD, bringing script, movement and bass to the studio. Research undertaken by 14 Company Dancers.

Becoming Other (2021)

Film / Dance

Commissioned by Dance East Centre for Advanced Training

 

Unable to attend in person classes, this film was a digital collaboration with the Dance East CAT Students. Researched entirely online, this film enabled the dancers to become something other. An exploration of self and identity admist a world of lockdown and social distancing. Researching how the body can be shaped, folded and unravelled into something new, this film provided platform for the dancers to investigate their own identity and inner, creative personas.

Bass Queens (2020)

Live Performance & Film

Commissioned by ATOM Theatre, Bulgaria

 

Fusing the worlds of Night People and ATOM Theatre, this project focused on the collaboration between international artists and communities. Based in Bulgaria, The Atom Choreographic Series invited Night People to collaborate with a community of dancers, exchanging ideas/practice across a week long residency. Due to the pandemic, the Company were unable to fly out, however continued the commission as a digital residency, with the Dancers working live in Space in Bulgaria. 

 

The work was created via a Hybrid model of Zoom/Live Dance, producing a live performance held in Bulgaria, Sofia. Utilising the training model of Night People, the work utilised elements of improvisation and live devising to celebrate the dancers and produce a work infused with interaction, connectivity and bass heavy play.
